Finally, a little limelight for the low-budget-just-keep-out-cranking-winners Oakland Athletics. Cespy put one a show, and quite frankly, isn't that what the Home Run Derby is about? If you missed it there is a great story in today's Chron about the trial and tribulations of Cespedes. So after watching him win the champion's belt, and a new Chevy truck, I have two questions:
*Does Yoenis have a driver's license?
*Can he please hit few more bombs like tonight, during the season!
I still can't believe Josh Donaldson did not make the team, and the Balfour literally had to make the team through the back door. It just seems like no matter what this organization does, it will never be enough? Like I have posted in a couple of other places, I just think there are too many people who are either Green or Beane with envy! Donaldson should be in the All-Star Game, just the like the A's should be moving to San Jose. Oh well, the little green and gold train just keeps on chugging. So come on Billy, get your team over the top!
From the Get Down Lounge:
*For the first time in my life, I was part of a foursome that actually one a Golf Tournament! To Dave Yoda Sorenson, Jim Old Man Big Gun Mash The Ball A Mile Drop Big Puts But I Can't Chip Rogers, and Dennis
Dooley, I raise my glass. Also to former Cal Bear and Denver Bronco Tim Lucas, for putting on a great tournament and dinner every year in Rio Vista CA! Even though Brian Flave Flaherty was not on the course, he was there in spirit. You would think with the win we could play a round at the British Open or AT&T at pebble or something!
*Reggie Jackson's blast in the 1971 All-Star game has just got to be the greatest All-Star moment! If he had hit that same blast as a Yankee, it would be shown over and over and over. It was great for Cespedes to have his moment in and on the top of the mountain! Keep on Keeping On Athleticos!
